Many thanks!
Yeah, hope the video is just a propaganda. I’m not also 100% sure about it since I can’t read the words and I haven’t read the Quran yet. I believe people are capable of judging what is authentic and fake so I’ll leave it up to the viewers.
Blogging will surely change how common people express their ideas. This is far more powerful than writing to editors of newspapers, which usually don’t get posted or published.
Posted by leeangelo at July 6, 2008, 11:52 pmWhat do Muslims believe?
Muslims believe in One, Unique, Incomparable God (called Allah in Arabic); in the Angels created by Him; in the prophets through whom His revelation were brought to mankind; in the Day of Judgement and individual accountability for actions; in God’s complete authority over human destiny and in life after death. Muslims believe in a chain of prophets starting with Adam and including Noah, Abraham, Ishmael, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Job, Moses, Aaron, David, Solomon, Elias, Jonah, John the Baptist, and Jesus, peace be upon them. But God’s final message to man, a reconfirmation of the eternal message and a summing-up of all that has gone before was revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) through Angel Gabriel.
Posted by moe at July 24, 2008, 6:45 pmThanks for the insight on Muslims Ms.Monina! Honestly speaking, my understanding of Muslims is very shallow.
Comments and insights are greatly appreciated here. ^_^
Posted by leeangelo at July 25, 2008, 12:44 amThanks for your response. Just as a word of advice, people need to be very careful what they see in the media regarding any sensative issues such as religions, especially Islam. Those who propagate negative image of Islam or as a matter of fact any other religion usually have their own hidden agendas. They usually will make claims that they are ex-Muslims to gain credibility, but if you dig a little deeper you will find out that they are far from the truth.
People today should ask if Islam is so bad and evil why are so many converting to Islam worldwide. I myself converted more than 5yrs ago. And I did not do it because I was in love with a Muslim or anything like that. I did it out of my own personal research while seeking for the truth. Now I live in Dubai and it is estimated that there are around 600,000 Filipinos here in UAE. It is truly amazing to see the shear number of conversions to Islam among the kabayans here. Both men and women.
To conclude I would again advice people to seek to know about the true Islam rather than get bombarded by the media and those who have personal grudge against Islam or Muslims. I am open to provide anyone who wishes the correct information regarding Islam. A good site to start about Islam is: www.islamonline.net
Islam is a religion of peace.
Unfortunately many of our Muslims brotehrs and sisters are fooled into believeing that Islam is a religion that calls for violence against the “infidels.”
This is similar to what happened to the medieval Catholics who killed thousands during the Crusades and the Inquisition.
Education is the answer.
Posted by J at July 27, 2008, 5:08 pmmoe: Indeed, people should “be very careful” with what they see in the media. We should be open to things but not take them as “gospel-truth” especially if we’re not really aware and knowledgeable of the issues involved.
J: “Education is the answer.” - I couldn’t agree more.
Many thanks to the comments!

Posted by Rapi at July 28, 2008, 12:47 pmNo compulsion in religion
This article has two sections. The first is a brief explanation of Quranic verses that are often mistaken as instructions to persecute Non-Muslims. The second section features verses from the Quran and Hadith that vehemently insist on religious tolerance and the idea of “no compulsion in religion.” God willing, Non-Muslims as well as our Muslim brothers and sisters who resort to violence, will take these verses into consideration.
Anti-Islamic people often use the following verses to justify the stereotype that Islam is a religion of violence and intolerance, which was spread by the sword. The explanations here were aided by Abdullah Yusuf Ali’s commentary on the Holy Quran.
Sura 8.12 “Remember thy lord has inspired the angels with the message. Give firmness to the believers and instill terror into the hearts of the unbelievers. Smite them above their necks and smite the fingertips of them.”
Sura 9.5 “When the sacred months have passed, kill the idolaters whereever you find them.”
Sura 47.4 “When you encounter the unbelievers, Strike off their heads. Untill you have made a wide slaughter among them tie up the remaining captives.”
Sura 8 is about a BATTLE - the Battle of Badr - not just some daily affair. A battles take two side to occur. Are you under the impression that while these ‘horrid’ Muslims were fighting, the enemies were simply standing there like good little peaceful men?
Sura 47 was revealed during the first year of Hijrah when the Muslims were under *threat of extinction* by invasion from Makkah.
Sura 9 is interesting. Non-Muslims almost invariably quote verse 5 but leave out verse 4 and 6. Why? Because verse 4 says, “But the treatires are not dissolved with those Pagans with whom you have entered into alliance and who have you subsequently failed you in aught, nor aided anyone against you. So fulfill your engagements with them to the end of their term: for God Loves the righteous.”
And verse 6 says, “If one among the Pagans ask thee for asylum, grant it to him so that he may hear the Word of God; and then escort him to where he can be secure.”

my goodness!! i hope this is only a propaganda made by some anti-islamist..disturbing it was, confused i am..
I would want to restrict myself on commenting since this is a delicate issue, im a christian, I have faith on my religion, but never did they pray or wish for the extermination of a group or even a renegade. I would want to blame myself because of my innocence about this issue, but never will I believe that easily, im not sure if the translations were accurate or the provisions stated from Quran were rightfully quoted..
Propaganda like this may ignite for WWIII to break out..so if this is a joke, stop it!
Gelo: hey, apparently you’ve been charmed by Jj..hehehe..its magnanimous though..sana someday ako rin no…para may pinagaabalahan at para makamove on na..haay…
